My Worldview

What is your worldview? Do you ever wonder why people behave the way they do? Would it be that they behave based on what they believe. Let’s try to define what a world view is, tell you what I believe and discuss options for later. Here we go:

Let’s define a worldview for our discussion as a set of presuppositions or assumptions which you could hold consciously or subconsciously about the makeup of world or the society you live in and you apply it to your life and for the most part behave accordingly.

Just watch television. The drama, performance, story line is written and played out from a worldview. The movies, music, magazines, newspapers, education are affected by a world view.

In his book, The Universe Next Door, James Sire identifies the most dominant. They are:

  • Christian Theism (Biblical Worldview)

  • Deism

  • Naturalism

  • Nihilism

  • Existentialism

  • Eastern Pantheism

  • New Age or New Consciousness

I personally hold to a biblical world view. Let me highlight this view:

  • Absolute moral truth exist

  • This truth is defined by the Bible

  • It is confirmed in six specific views:

1) Jesus Christ lived a sinless life.
2) God is the all-powerful and all-knowing Creator of the universe and He still rules.
3) Salvation is a gift from God and cannot be earned.
4) Satan is real.
5) A follow of Jesus Christ has a responsibility to share their faith with other people.
6) The Bible is accurate in all of its teachings.
